I could watch you all day...

I am a very visual person. I have become addicted to movies. I'll watch one almost every night. I love reading too but I delight in seeing a narritive come to life. Last night I watched Into the Wild and was amazed. It was shaped so beautifully (directed) by Sean Penn and emits the awesomeness of Eddie Vedder throughout it's soundtrack.

I generally prefer films of the indie/art house persuasion. I love films that are more creative and original, more focused on the detail and depth of a story, rather than the purpose to make millions.

Not unlike the night sky, I will often watch films just for their stars (Zooey Deschanel, Kirsten Dunst, Ryan Gosling, Heath Ledger, Billy Crudup, Emile Hirsch, Isla Fischer, Audrey Hepburn, just to name a few). Occasionally, I will dislike a movie but watch it over and over again because of a specific character portrayal (eg: Kirsten Dunst's character in Elizabethtown & Sienna Miller's Edie Sedgwick in Factory Girl), other times because of a sweet soundtrack. But ultimately, I love to watch films that have inspiring and challenging story lines, creative screenplays, beautifully depicted scenes and actors who can make their characters absolutely shine.

Films I like are not always cheerful and on occasion a little depressing. I like a mixture of the cute and whimsical love stories and tales of the mentally challenged seeking to find the truth somewhere or in some thing. Some of my favourite films are the ones that most of my friends hate, but for me, I love films with greater meaning that the plain obvious, films with underlying revelations and the driest of dry humour. Here is just a few of my favourite, favourite films, and if you haven't already, you should definitely check them out...

Into The Wild (2007)
Dedication (2007)
Half Nelson (2006)
Almost Famous (2000)

Finally!!

So, yesterday, I had my afternoon completely planned out. After work, I'd go home, make coffee, put on some Gilmore Girls season 4 and perusal some blogs/check my facebook/shop online . I didnt think life could get much better than that...and then I saw them.

...my rayban wayfarers had arrived in the mail!

...and they're pretty, veeeery pretty.

I got tagged. :)

Chrissy from Buttercup Baby tagged me on the weekend. :)

Here are the rules: share six things that make you happy and tag six amazing starry-eyed bloggers!

So I'm tagging:

And six things that make me happy are...
1. People- people whom I love, people who make me smile, people who inspire me and make me think outside the box.

2. COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE!!!!- nuff said.

3. Photos - beautiful photography, professional or just for fun! Looking at a pretty picture can brighten up my otherwise dull day.

4. The beach. swimming, sun baking (bad, i know), frolicking, drawing pictures in the sand, beach bonfires, the beach at nighttime, beach hair, sunshine...it all comes under 'beach'.

5. MUSIC. I think I would die without it, it makes my world go round. It always makes me happy to listen to anything from my collection of records and Cd's.

6. when a friend suggests going on a spontaneous-and-unorganised-road-trip-that-involves-camping-and-beaches...and then we go! The driving, the getting away from life, being with friends, attempting to set up ones tent. Its one of my favourite things ever. its always fun times and there will always be a story to tell when you get back home...that is definately something that makes me happy :)

and so, that's my 6, i could keep going on forever...there are soooo many things in life that can make me happy...

My days are riveting, to say the least...

Today I went to work and when I returned I painted my toenails a marshmallow-y pink, listened to the weepies, drank coffee and dowloaded 'Into the Wild'...I'm going to try to have an early night tonight, but that almost never seems to happen...

ps: i really want pillows like that.

Happy 2009!!!

Whilst my New Years Eve consisted of watch Mary Poppins with my family, drinking lots and lots of coffee and eating the leftover Christmas cherries, I was continuously thankful that I was far far away from the craziness of past New Years festivities...I personally think NYE is a little overrated...but I had fun this year even though I didnt get up to much.

peace & happiness for the brand new year
